Everywhere, even in the lonely planet, the place is called "Gökova (Akyaka)", i.e. with the two names. So, innocent tourists as we are, we assume it is the same place, with just two names, and we ask for two bus tickets to Gökova.
Wrong choice :-) They dropped us at a road intersection, in Gökova as we asked, 5km from the place we wanted to go, which turned to be Akyaka. So, we had to pay for a taxi until there - which is not so bad.
And it was worth. Akyaka is a small place close to the sea, famous for some fish restaurants and nice beaches. Not the white-sand beach you see on postcards (you have this, but it's boring !), but the little creeks where you have to jump from the stones !
It was quite impressive (not to say dangerous) sometimes, with the waves. And needless to say that you have to jump without trying the water temperature ! It was not too cold anyway, and so warm outside that it could not be anything but pleasant !
In the evening, we had dinner in a fish restaurant where they throw the rests of your fish to eels in the river. Interesting !
After a very short stay, we left at noon towards Kas. The owner of the hotel in Akyaka was really nice and he dropped us at the cross-road (the Gökova cross-road !) so we can catch a bus to Fethiye, and Kas.
Waiting for a bus ... |
Next post will be about Kas, where we stayed longer, and so the post will be longer !
