SAIP2011 conference

The annual conference of the South African Institute of Physics was held from 13th to 15th of July, 2011, in St George Hotel and Conference Center, near Pretoria. It is the largest physics event in South Africa every year, when more than 400 physicists from all SA universities, institutes and labs, gather for a few days of presentations.
The presentations themselves were generally interesting and of good quality, covering many aspects of Physics (Nuclear and High Energy Physics, Condensed Matter and Solid State, Theory, Astrophysics and Space Science, Education, ...).
The venue was a rather strange hotel, in Greek style ! Rooms were called "Parthenon" or "Acropolis" ... After two weeks visiting Hellenistic ruins in Turkey, it was not too much of a change - except for the temperature !

Saint George Hotel : Acropolis
